NUDITY
ETIQUETTE
For those of you who attend nudist resorts this item will not be of any
news.
However we raise it for those of you who are unfamiliar with this
basic bit of "nudity
etiquette" & hygiene.
Whenever you find that you "lose" some or all of your wardrobe, and you
are sitting on a chair, couch or whatever, it is expected that you will
slip something between your tush and the upholstery. Most seasoned
nudists carry a small towel for exactly this purpose, (most strippers do as well). You'll
also find this is common etiquette when working out in a gym.
As it's not uncommon for clothing to go astray at the club, we suggest
that you bring a small towel with you when and if you think you are
inclined to bare your buns. This issue has cropped up before, but is
even more relevant now with the new couches we have added. (Some people also simply fold their
clothes and sit on those) We will also get some "tushie towels"
and make them available for you at a cost of $5 (the towels will be yours to keep)
for those occasions when you aren't prepared, and find your clothes
start disappearing!
I should also add here (for newbies)
that our club isn't a nudist resort and you won't be in a room full of
naked people.
However, it isn't unusual to see a couple (or more) of people lose some or
all of
their clothes over the course of an evening. It's all part of the fun!
WELCOME TO 2008
It’s a major milestone — Club Eros celebrates it’s 36th birthday this year. We’ll actually be celebrating all year long even though the official party is on May 24th. We’ve come a long way over the 36 intervening years:
The club was originally founded by Merv Mason back in 1972. It started with a small core group of couples who used to gather infrequently in his home. By the time that Tony & Zena took on running it several years later, membership was approaching the 200 couple mark. Over the 2 years they ran the club, membership virtually doubled, and they began hosting regular once a month dances. Wendy & I took on running the club about 25 years ago. Membership has grown from just over 350 couples to over 3,000 couples during that time. We have progressively increased our dance schedule from once a month to twice a month to every week. We used to be closed during the summer and on long weekends, but now our weekly format continues non-stop right through the whole year. We have added regular weekly Friday night events for our member couples. We offer a wide variety of other special events too, like our golf tournament, our motorcycle run, euchre tournaments our trips, holidays and weekends away. But the main focus of our members continues to be our club dances. We even bought the bar in which we hold our events back in 1999. What used to be considered a busy night many years ago when 20 couples attended, was surpassed a couple of years ago by a blockbuster new record of 153 couples attending one evening.
Our growth and success has not been without it’s trials and tribulations as well. Easily the most notable of these was the famous “Raid of ‘92" after which we had to undertake an expensive almost year long court battle. In the end however we emerged victorious and thereby set an important new legal precedent for swinging in Canada. (We were the FIRST, and until last year ONLY, Canadian swing club to have won a case in criminal court!) We’ve also had to deal with the growing pains of becoming a club as large as we are. We’ve become the model on which many other clubs have based themselves upon. (They say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery - in fact you'll find items cut and pasted from our website on many other swing club websites!) When several new local clubs closed after only a few months (and selling lots of memberships to unsuspecting couples) we were the first and only club to come to the rescue of their members, who were left high and dry, by offering to honour their otherwise worthless memberships at no extra cost. We’ve added other events to our calendar to accommodate the variety of interests of our members. We’ve added host couples to help the new couples through their first anxious visits to the club (and we’d really like to add a couple more, let us know if you & your partner would be interested). We’ve increased our involvement with other swing clubs both locally & worldwide, especially through NASCA (North American Swing Club Association – of which Wendy & I served as regional representatives several years ago) to help facilitate an international swing club network for members when they travel. We’ve also joined with other clubs and swing tour agencies in planning and promoting dozens of swinging holiday opportunities each year. In addition, back in 1991, we hosted Caress, Canada’s first international swing convention, which was a huge success.
In a nutshell, as the old saying goes: “We’ve come a long way, Baby!”
There are only 2 or 3 (out of several hundred) clubs across North America that come close to matching either our longevity or our total membership. We are very proud to say that we are the longest running swing club in Canada by a long shot. And with over 3,000 real world paid members we are likely the largest swing club in Canada (Oh, some other clubs list everyone on their mailing list as a "member" but if we did that we'd have well over 30,000! We're talking real actual paid member couples) We really had no idea that the club could or would grow to anything approaching this size when we took it on. It is, however, to each and every one of you that the credit for this growth belongs. Your continued support over the years has been the cornerstone on which our club has prospered. Our club (as with any other social club) is in reality merely the sum total of its members. Well, with our club, that total adds up to something really wonderful and special. We’re exceptionally proud to be affiliated with Club Eros and consider it an honour to think of each and every one of you as “friend”. When you come out to any of our dances in this our 36th Anniversary Year, take a moment to reflect on how special the people you have come to know and love in this lifestyle are to you. Because that’s what it’s really all about.

& support that has made our club what it is today. We join with you
in looking forward very much to 2008 and beyond, and we are so pleased

either before you come out
or right when you arrive will save you up to $20 on your
dance admission, (Silver members vs non-members rates)
so if you are going to be taking out a membership anyway, do it right
away and save yourself some money!
Remember that memberships are required after your first
introductory
visit.
GOLD MEMBERSHIP UPGRADES
A great many members are upgrading their membership to a GOLD CARD when it comes up for renewal, as it really does save money for you if you come out to the club once a month or more. However, it seems that most people don't know know that you can also upgrade anytime during the year as well. Very simply we credit you with the unexpired portion of your existing membership and deduct that off your new GOLD CARD price.
GOLD CARDS are the fastest increasing segment of our
membership
offerings, and most especially for renewals, as members see the VALUE
and SAVINGS that a GOLD CARD can provide for them.
Remeber
though the "once a month" figure is simply an average guideline. You
may
perhaps not come out at all through the summer for example, but get out
every other weekend in the winter, or vice versa. The important number
for you to consider is 12.
If you come
out
to the club as little as twelve (or more) times in the course
of
a year, the GOLD CARD will save you
money!

Membership Policy
For those of you who are not aware, we have always had a strict membership policy at Club Eros. Only members and their invited guests may attend our club functions.
This Membership Policy is also very important legally. Last
year a club in Montreal had their previous conviction overturned by the
Supreme Court, however this is only because the court recognized that
they had a firm
membership policy and the the Public was not
permitted access.. Make sure any other club you attend
anywhere
has a similar members-only policy in place and rigorously enforced to
avoid
placing yourself at legal risk. As many of you may know the Montreal
club and our club are the only
clubs in Canada to have challenged this law in court and won, in both
cases based on firm membership policies!
Get The Most Out Of Your Evening At The Club
or Seven Steps to Successful Swinging!
ARRIVE EARLY - Whether it is your first visit or your twentieth, it is always far more relaxing to arrive early before the crowd and let the room fill slowly around you. You get to check out everyone else slowly as they come in. You also get far more evening to mix, mingle and socialize. You’ll meet MORE people with LESS pressure if you arrive early.
STAY THE WHOLE EVENING - Once again, the longer you stretch out your evening, the more relaxing it becomes, and the more people you can potentially meet. Also, couples continue to arrive at the club till well after midnight. If you leave early, you miss out on meeting them.
GET INVOLVED - Whether it is a dress up theme, or a mix ‘n mingle game, you have an instant “in” with everybody else if you are involved in what is going on. To paraphrase an old saying: “If you get involved, you are a welcome friend and a guest, if you stand around on the fringe, you are merely a stranger.”
CIRCULATE - If you simply find the furthest unoccupied table and park there, chances are you won’t meet anyone unless they happen, by chance, to sit near you. If instead, you head for the bar area, and move around the room over the evening, you’ll likely meet everyone!
SMILE - Think a moment: If you see two couples, 1: smiling, friendly & approachable, and 2: with a dour look on their face, which one would you approach to talk to?
TALK - Meeting others is a 50/50 proposition - if you approach 50% of people you want to meet & begin a conversation, the other 50% of the people will be trying to find you. Besides, being involved in a conversation with someone magically makes you even more appealing to others.
COME BACK SOON - every evening at Club Eros is different; you will meet a whole new group on your next visit. Especially if you are new, you will need more than just one or two visits to get a real “feel” for the lifestyle. No two nights are the same!
Help Wanted:
Host Couple Team Expanding
With the steady and consistent influx of new couples who are are attending our club lately, and the even larger number who are waiting in the wings and have not yet made their inaugural appearance., we find that we need more than just occasional help with hosting duties. We need several more couples for our host team, and we’re open to applications, suggestions, nominations etc for couples in our membership who A) would make good hosts, and B) welcome the challenges which this role offers. We need couples who are both outgoing and comfortable with their involvement in the lifestyle, and willing to share their experiences and attitudes with new couples. We most especially need couples who can make a regular and consistent commitment to attending club functions and helping with host duties. If this role appeals to you, please feel free to discuss it with Wendy or Ron without any obligations for now and see what it entails and what the new benefits in doing this are, as well.
Yes, we're still looking for more hosts. If the concept interests you at all talk to us about it. Also if a couple have made you feel extremely welcome, then nominate them for our host team (they may have never considered that they were good at it so didn't apply ... but you know differently right?)
Theme Night Prizes
One of the really fun things about attending a club like ours is that you can let your hair down, behave in ways you couldn’t imagine at a straight function, and wear (or not wear!) clothing that would do more than raise a few eyebrows on the street. To that end we regularly feature among our theme nights quite a few evenings where you are encouraged to dress in keeping with the theme.
While it is never compulsory to dress in theme, it’s always a lot more fun when you do - ask anyone who does! Most of the themes are so darn tempting to dress up for, but ... That little bit of hesitancy about whether or not to dress for the theme is what we’d like to help you overcome. To that end, we have first a suggestion, and then an incentive:

a club elsewhere before moving to Toronto, also those who found that
they’ve
perhaps made a mistake and joined another club which they are not

Have You Been Out To Club Eros Lately?
Whether it's due to geography (over 60% of our membership live 2 or more hours drive from the club), family commitments or whatever, for some of you it has been quite a while since you were last out. Well, if that’s the case, this paragraph is addressed to you and we’d like to encourage you to visit again sometime very soon. Lots of things have changed and we like to think all for the better. We do know that every single week, whether a super jam packed hi-energy evening or a more mellow laid-back theme, everybody has a really good time, but it just isn’t the same without you. Pick one of our upcoming fun themes that sparks your interest and make the effort to come and see what’s new and who’s new at Club Eros. We've had our largest influx ever of new couples, and everyone, new and old is looking forward to meeting you!
Also, don't get caught up in the“ numbers game”. Some people are used to the mega-crowded scene of huge commercial nightclubs. Others perhaps have visited “couples clubs” or “lifestyle clubs” which artificially inflate their attendance by opening their doors primarily to non-swingers. (less than 10% of the people at these clubs are interested in swinging) or, even worse, admitting hordes of horny single guys, who have no concept of what our lifestyle is about and merely trample over the couples looking for free and easy sex! Both of these options have their place, but if what you really want is a venue in which to meet other swingers like yourselves, none of these other options will be of much real use to you. A private swingers club, like Club Eros, is a much more intimate setting than that. By limiting admission to only those couples who are looking for the same things you are, we not only make it easier for you to meet each other, but we provide a relaxed, non pressured, interactive setting not possible by letting in outsiders, wannabes, tourists, lookie-loos (call them what you will). Instead of the “let's sit back and be entertained” format, (fun to watch but doesn't let you actually meet anyone), our club is more like a party of friends in your rec room! Everyone is talkative, friendly and looking to meet and mingle! Sure, things can get pretty wild, people often get naked and there's a lot of discreet touchy-feely if you look closely. But what our club is really all about is being a great place to go to talk and meet and find 1... or 2 ... or 20 ... couples to go home with!!
How is Club Eros Different?
That’s one of the most common questions we get asked by both current members and new couples. Sometimes things that look the same or similar at first glance are really quite different when you look deeper. But yes, there is indeed a difference and “vive la difference!”!
1) Membership is restricted to swinging couples only. Some people confuse couples clubs with swingers clubs, but couples clubs cater to a very different segment of the population, and have a very small percentage of swingers in their membership. (less than 10% is their own estimate) That means that 4 out of every 5 people at a couples club that you meet aren’t interested in swinging with you or anyone else. At Club Eros you don’t play that guessing game of “do they or don’t they”, and you don’t waste your entire evening trying to meet or talk to people who simply aren’t looking for what you’re looking for.
2) A tight “Members & Invited Guests Only” Policy is strictly enforced. A membership program is of no use at all if anyone and everyone who shows up at the door can get in, like at one local club. Maintaining strict members only rules is vitally important, not only to help ensure the right mix and environment for everyone’s comfort and enjoyment, but also to comply with legal requirements. Unless a club maintains strict admission policies, they place not only themselves but each and every one of their members at real legal risk. We’ve been to court, and we’ve won our case (the FIRST Canadian club ever which won this case way back in '92!) and we know our legal limits, and observe them strictly. On-premise activity is perfectly OK, but ONLY IF DOOR ADMISSIONS ARE RIGOURSLY CONTROLLED AND MEMBERSHIP POLICIES ARE ENFORCED WITHOUT EXCEPTION. Any club which doesn’t is more interested in maximizing their cash flow than in safeguarding their members.
3) We’ve been around for 36 years now. And we’re committed to staying active for a long, long time to come. In an average year, about 20 clubs open and close in the GTA. The average club lasts 3 months with many even less than that! We regularly encounter couples who have paid for memberships in clubs which no longer exist. We have always had an upgrade policy for couples who have purchased a membership in another club, whether it has folded or they are merely dissatisfied, they can get credit for their unexpired portion at Club Eros.
4) Club Eros is run by an active swinging couple. Strangely enough, some other clubs are run by non-swingers. We have been personally active in the swing scene for over 3 decades. Over these years we have visited well over 100 other swing clubs. We have appeared on dozens of major TV and radio shows to discuss the lifestyle, and regularly are invited to colleges and universities as guest lecturers and experts on alternative relationships. We are happy to share that knowledge and experience with our members. Whether at the club, on the phone, via email or over coffee, we’ll answer your questions, share our experiences, and help to sort out the confusion of entering a new lifestyle. We have a very personal , longterm dedication to the lifestyle above and beyond merely running the club, and we welcome you to avail yourself of it.
5) NO SINGLE GUYS!!!
A
couple of new clubs have decided to boost their numbers by opening
their
doors to single guys - big mistake! We've seen it happen over and over
again at clubs all across North America - adding single guys to a
swinging
couples club changes the atmosphere at a club from relaxed, non
pressured
and fun to an intense, high pressured meat market. The gender balance
ratio
goes right through the ceiling and it simply is no longer a fun place
to
be.Club Eros has never been open to single guys
and
never
will - we want to maintain the casual atmosphere that swinging couples
deserve! The simple fact is that clubs which admit single guys are more
concerned with their own profit than they are with your comfort and
enjoyment.
Dress (or Un-dress!) For Success!
Our dances are fun, exciting places like no other. And quite often we select a theme that gives you an opportunity to really let your hair down, let a few fantasies flow and dress as you simply couldn’t get away with anywhere else! When those occasions crop up, we invite and encourage you to make the most of them! Dressing in keeping with the theme on any given night is a sure fire way to have an instant in with everyone else who does as well. It makes it that much easier to meet people, and it’s a hell of a lot of fun for you at the same time. Sometimes, most especially among new members, there is a shyness about plunging in and doing so, but there is no need to feel that way at all. A swing club is not the place where you need to feel either shy or conservative. You can and should feel totally free to cast your inhibitions to the wind when you come out to play at our club. So to help break down those last barriers about getting into theme on those wilder nights, we’ve introduced an added incentive to you. Everyone who arrives at the dance dressed in the theme (or changing into it as soon as you arrive) is entered in a raffle drawing for a great prize! Join the fun crowd and we’ll add to your fun for you! Go ahead and give it a try ... we guarantee you’ll have a good time when you do!
Remember also, that regardless of the theme - mild or wild -
lingerie
is
always a very acceptable alternative for a choice of what
to wear to the club.

Smoking & Ventilation
As everyone is undoubtedly aware, as of Jun 1 2004, we along with ALL other bars in the GTA are now legislated as non-smoking. For those of you who do still wish to go outside for a puff during the course of the evening, we ask your co-operation in these areas:
1 - If you are "dressed in theme" please make sure that you "cover-up" to go outside if your outfit is beyond what you would wear around your own neighbourhood. Keeping things discrete here is important to all of our collective privacy. (In other words, if you are a smoker, please bring a wrap!)
2 - No alcohol is permitted outside. Period. Leave your drinks inside when you go out.
3 - Please help keep things clean and use the red sand pails (not the planters) provided for your butts.
4 - With the amount of in-and-out (no pun intended) traffic this generates, nametags MUST be worn as it's the only quick and easy visual check the door staff have of those returning in.

LLBO Does Not Equal BYOB
At a recent dance it was brought to our attention that a couple were seen to have brought in their own alcohol. Not only is this unacceptable, but it poses a very real risk for us as the bar owners.. Under Ontario Liquor Law, if you bring your own liquor into a licensed premises, the bar owner can easily lose his license. Please note that we have a zero tolerance policy for this: If you are caught bringing in liquor, it will be confiscated and you will be asked to leave. (no exceptions!!)
This is also an appropriate time to mention that we also have a zero
tolerance policy for illegal drugs. Very simply, a swing club is legal,
drugs are not - we have no intention of crossing that line. This hasn't
been an issue in the past and we want to keep it that way.
